Taif Rose: A Dawn Harvesting Ritual

High in the Sarawat Mountains of Saudi Arabia lies Taif, a cold, wind-swept valley famous for producing the world’s most intense roses. The Taif Rose is a 30-petal wonder that blooms only for a few weeks in the spring, releasing a sharp, green, and intensely sweet aroma that has perfumed kings and sultans for centuries.
The secret to Taif Rose oil lies in the timing. Before the sun rises over the mountain peaks, when the air is still dew-soaked and freezing, hundreds of farmers head to the fields. The petals must be hand-plucked before the heat of the day evaporates the delicate essential oils.
At Elite Boutique, we transport these fresh blossoms immediately to our traditional copper stills. It takes over 40,000 roses to produce a single tola (approx. 11.6 grams) of pure Taif Rose oil. The result is a rose note that is fresh, spicy, and regal—capturing the cold mountain dawn in a single drop.
